Privacy Policy

Overview

This policy explains how Buknal Enterprise LLC ("we," "us") handles information in the YardKit iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro app ("the App"). It applies only to the App, not to other apps we publish or to websites we don't operate.

YardKit has no user accounts. You don't register, and you don't give us a name, an email address, or a password to use the App. We don't sell personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.

Lawn and property information

To build your care plan, the App stores what you tell it about your yard: property names, ZIP code, grass type, lawn size, the tasks on your calendar, products you record, and the notes and photos in your lawn journal.

This information is stored on your device. If you have iCloud enabled for YardKit, Apple also syncs it to your personal iCloud account so it appears on your other devices. That copy is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and is controlled by you, not by us. We have no server holding your lawn data and no way to look at it.

Location and weather

YardKit's plans and alerts depend on local conditions, so the App needs to know roughly where your lawn is. You can provide this in two ways:

• By entering a ZIP code, or
• By granting location permission, so the App can detect your location automatically.

Your location is used to determine your climate zone and to request forecasts and soil temperature from Apple WeatherKit. Apple processes these requests under its own privacy policy and states that WeatherKit requests are not used to identify or profile you. Your location is stored on your device as part of your property, and is not transmitted to us.

You can change or revoke location permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services, or in Settings → YardKit. If you revoke it, you can continue to use the App by entering a ZIP code.

Camera and photos

YardKit uses the camera for two separate features, which are handled differently.

Lawn measurement

Measuring your lawn happens entirely on your device. The camera view is used to calculate square footage, and the resulting measurement is saved with your property. These images are not uploaded to us or to anyone else.

Plant identification

When you identify a plant or weed, the photo you submit is sent to Plant.id, a plant identification service operated by Kindwise, which returns a suggested match. Only the image and the technical data needed for the request are sent. We don't attach your name, device identifier, or lawn data to it, and Plant.id doesn't receive anything that identifies you. Kindwise's handling of submitted images is described in the Plant.id privacy policy.

Avoid submitting photos that contain people, faces, house numbers, or other personal details you don't want to send to a third party. The App requests access to your camera and, if you choose an existing image, to your photo library; both permissions can be changed in Settings → YardKit.

Usage and diagnostic data

The App includes Google Firebase Analytics, which we use to understand which features people use and to find crashes and bugs. It collects information such as which screens are opened, events like starting a plan or completing a task, your device model, operating system version, app version, general region, and crash diagnostics.

This data is tied to a randomly generated app instance identifier, not to your name or Apple Account, which is why the App Store privacy label lists usage and diagnostic data as "not linked to you." It is not used to track you across other companies' apps or websites, and it is not sold or shared with data brokers or advertisers. Google processes it as described in the Firebase privacy documentation.

Apple separately gives you control over the crash and usage reports your device shares with developers, under Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

Third-party services

YardKit relies on these outside services. Each handles data under its own privacy policy.

Subscriptions and purchases

YardKit offers optional subscriptions. All payments are processed by Apple through your Apple Account. We receive anonymized sales and subscription reports from Apple, and we never see your card number, billing address, or full Apple Account details.

Keeping and deleting your data

Because your lawn data lives on your device, you control how long it is kept:

• Delete individual properties, tasks, journal entries, or photos inside the App.
• Delete the App to remove the data stored on that device.
• If you used iCloud sync, remove the remaining copy under Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.

Photos submitted for plant identification are retained by Kindwise according to their policy. Analytics data is retained by Google for a limited period under our Firebase retention settings and cannot be traced back to you by name. Since we hold no account for you, there is no profile for us to delete, but you can write to us with any question about your data.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing, under laws such as the GDPR in Europe and the UK, and the CCPA/CPRA in California.

We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by these laws, and we don't use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because the App collects no information that identifies you, most requests are satisfied by the controls above, which let you delete your data directly. If you'd like help exercising a right, email us and we'll respond within the time the applicable law requires.

Children's privacy

YardKit is rated 4+ but is designed for adults caring for a lawn. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will address it.

Security

Data stored on your device is protected by iOS and by your device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID. Data synced through iCloud is encrypted by Apple in transit and at rest. Requests to the services listed above are made over encrypted HTTPS connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the App changes. The revised policy takes effect when posted on this page, and we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will also be described in the App's release notes.
